E-learning infrastructure

The infrastructure for e-learning has been forming up; the iNTeg-Risk web-tool (www.integrisk.eu-vri.eu) provides with space for the implementation. In principle, four aspects of online education have to be taken into consideration:

  1. Accessing files online
  2. Online meetings for explanatory sessions
  3. Online courses
  4. Online exams

In the future, all courses offered within the iNTeg-Risk program shall be part of the e-learning system.

1. Accessing files online
Registered participants to the course will be able to download the training material (lecture notes, transparencies, evaluation forms, literature material, etc) from the course dashboard of the specific instance of the course.

2. Online meetings for explanatory sessions
For e-tutorial, screencasting solutions will be used. That is, the tutor’s computer screen will be made available to stream through each participants web-browser. The solution for interactivity of the e-tutorial is still under discussion.

3. Online courses
The online courses are recorded versions of the actual courses which will take place in seminar rooms. The course will be recorded by digital camera and uploaded to the iNTeg-Risk web-tool. From here, participants are able to access the content and stream the video.

4. Online exams
The online exams are accessible from the iNTeg-Risk Survey tool, available on the iNTeg-Risk web-tool. The Survey tool makes possible to automatically register the participant, and to record and evaluate the participant’s results.

User management is needed for accessing files via the web-tool (i.e. only members can download training material), for watching the recorded courses and for filling out exams. Net meetings register participants by attendance list. User rights are provided by the iNTeg-Risk management team, based on preliminary registration to the specific course.
